Holding each other
In hopeless recognition Of what we now know Quietly we watch Days of priest and pulpit pass Pompous clouds on parade Clearing August wind-borne skies Our song smothered Spent candles after mass Stand snuffed Smoke disperses Through vast cathedral air Soundless in the wave Life breathes Body tense - quivering Feathers of an arrow drawn Taut against the gut-wound string Your hand grips my face like bedrock Ocean floor withholding open sea Body reaching - tight winding Aged timepiece striving to set free |
Your eyes fly wide open
Dome shields rolled back Left to stand gaping On a field of infinite sky Gazing in amazement Vision itself would speak Your mouth falls open One moment Frozen in time Your eyes hold mine Hand gone limp Slow breathing follows down To calm silent stare of eye That Wisdom now has seen I bow to hold your hand on my head Drawbridge standing open Across the deepening moat Cracked broken clay River bed run dry I cry for spring to rain |
Oceans of tears unbound invade
This cosmos of whole being dammed With all floodgates closed Holding backwaters of my soul Alone i stand in wonder found Sharing one moment of touch within Deep river flowing A hand once held Still holding World ambition is not strong In the wake of life currents Carrying on no matter what we do With our one drop of time passing Endless whirlpools Coming or going Knowing for a season Letting go lives gone behind I tear myself from the helm Of your eyes horizon bound Storm windows blown open wide Held against a solid wall Of wind sown sky |
